Want to be more successful in this class? Previous
students, who perhaps did not do as well on an exam as they had hoped,
have often wanted to know what they could have done differently to have
done better.
Here are a dozen suggestions from your instructor:
1. Come to class (preferably sober & well-rested)
2. Do the homework assignments; even make up and work
out your own problems
3. Review (and even rewrite) your notes
4. Review old exams
5. Read the assigned pages from the text
6. Emphasize meaning & application vs. memorization
7. Don't 'lose sight of the forest for the trees';
make sure you understand the meaning and definition of concepts & terms
8. Don't procrastinate; keep up with the material and
study w/ classmate(s)
9. Get a good night's sleep the night before class,
& especially the night before exam days; don't drastically alter your
routines in life the day & night before a test
10. Review study guides and know how to do the suggested
competencies
11. Avoid or reduce test anxiety via preparation and
perspective
12. Maintain a positive, optimistic attitude
